Eye on Your Brand performed an unsolicited comparison of Solink, a Noonlight powered video alarm service, with a popular standard alarm service for a client. The client was looking to compare their current security provider to Solink’s and assess the return on investment between the two solutions. Here’s an overview of the results and why Eye on Your Brand concluded that the Noonlight powered solution is the clear winner.
The experiment took place over 45 days in a national restaurant group that has experienced higher-than-average false alarms through standard alarm panel monitoring. Neither of the companies were made aware of the experiment as their systems ran side-by-side at the following locations:
1. All locations have after-hour deliveries or third-party vendors accessing the site.
2. Both Solink and standard panel alarms were set to automatically arm and disarm on the same schedule.
The following chart demonstrates total events each system detected by trigger, how many of those events were filtered by the system as false alarms, and how many times police were falsely dispatched due to the system's failure to filter false alarms.
The Standard Alarm Panel dispatched the police on 88% of their false alarms, all resulting in false alarm fines ranging from $75 to $325 per alarm. From the 25 false alarms, over 96 calls were made to the account admins after hours. Due to historically excessive false alarm calls from this company, the admins rarely answer these calls to verify or cancel the alarms. With Noonlight, Solink did not dispatch or call the account admins on any of the false alarms resulting in $0 in false alarm fees. Out of 36 alarm verification events, only 3 calls were made. Two calls were due to a heat notification light for an IT server room, which was immediately inspected by necessary personnel. The last call was for a real emergency where an unauthorized person was attempting to enter a location being monitored for the experiment, the Corporate Support Center.
Police were dispatched on one Solink alarm when an unknown person was seen trying to enter the Corporate Support Center at multiple doors. A Noonlight agent reviewed these alarms and immediately dispatched police to the location, sharing the video with first responders via Noonlight's SendPolice platform. Due to video confirmation being added to the 911 call, the police can prioritize the alarm as a confirmed emergency and quickly dispatch help. Noonlight and Solink also notified the location managers on the account of the emergency via SMS.
By the time the Standard Alarm Panel could have registered this alarm, which would be when the intruder gained access to the building, the police were already on-site thanks to Solink and Noonlight’s response.
